How do I get onto the course?
First purchase the course online, create an account, enrol onto the course and you are ready to go!
What is the course like and what are the teaching methods?
The course consists of 9 structured modules that guide you through the topic in an understandable, logical and easy to follow way. Content on the course includes Ebooks, PDFs, interactive quizzes and videos of up to 4K resolution. The course was created using over 450 sources which includes published medical articles, data documents, government documents, national and international health documents, news articles and charity websites to name a few. This means that the course provides up to data available international and national statistics. We have put an immense amount of thought into every part of this course as we want you to have a great learning experience.
How long does the course take to complete?
We know that people learn at different speeds. We’ve therefore created our courses for all types of learners, those who read and learn fast and those who like to take their time. You can read out ebooks and answer quizzes at your own pace. For video content, you have the option to speed up or slow down the videos. We anticipate it will take between 4-7 hours.
How long do I have to complete the course?
You have 6 months to complete the course. We want to provide flexibility for all our learners to help them feel comfortable on their learning journey. We want you to learn at your own pace and at times that suit you. You can complete the course in one sitting or over multiple days. Your progress will be tracked and automatically saved, and you can log in and out of your accounts as many times as you want. You can therefore stop at any time and return to pick up where you left off. You can also revisit parts of the course you want to even after completion. 4 months after starting the course you will be automatically unenrolled from the course.
Who is this course suitable for?
The course is ideal for all healthcare professionals who work with patients. This course is important for all health workers regardless of if they come across cases of FGM in their line of work.
This includes Doctors working in General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology or Public Health and Nurses and Midwives.
Additionally, it is a valuable resource for all other health professionals such as Healthcare assistants, Pharmacists, Physician Associates, Dentists, Psychotherapists, Occupational therapists, Health visitors. It is also appropriate for those wanting to advance their careers in this field or work in advocacy.
Can I complete the course on my phone or tablet?
We recommend using a computer (desktop or laptop) to do this course as it has not been optimized for phones and tablets and the learning quality would be affected. You can connect your computer to a large tv screen for a greater experience. Some of our content is in 4K resolution!
Is there an assessment?
Yes! there is an assessment at the end of the course to test what you have learned. You must pass the assessment in order to pass the course. Do I get a certificate?
Yes! Once you have completed all of the modules and successfully passed the assessment, you will be able to download your personalised CPD certificate with your name on it.
Is the course CPD accredited?
Yes! all of our online courses are CPD accredited by an appropriate accreditation company. You will gain 7 hours or points. Your personalised certificate will also be CPD certified.
How long is the certificate valid?
We recommend renewing your certification every two years to stay current with the latest information, uphold your professional responsibilities, and ensure ongoing competency in safeguarding practices. Regular updates not only keep your knowledge relevant but also contribute to the continuous improvement of your safeguarding skills in the field.
When will the other courses become available?
Our courses on ‘Refuge, Asylum and You’ and ‘Coercive Control, domestic abuse’ aim to launch in 2024. Please bear with as we only launch courses of the highest quality and calibre. Can I register large numbers of users such as my whole team?
